International Women's Day - Louise
My career with ClwydAlyn began when I was 16 and studying psychology at university. I worked on a relief basis as a kitchen assistant and domestic assistant at Llys Eleanor Extra Care Scheme, and worked there full time when I finished my studies.
I then moved to a six-month internship as a ‘Grow Your Own Assistant’ in the HR department of the company, supporting the team with organising training, attending employability events and promoting recruitment in local schools.
In 2019, at the end of my contract, I moved into my current role as Operations & Project Coordinator in Health and Safety and found the role to be really diverse. I organise all training for my team, complete all risk assessments and carry out regular inspections and resident satisfaction scores. I also have completed my own training, earning a General NEBOSH certificate in Health and Safety and I have just started NEBOSH Environmental Management. My aim is to develop my career in these areas, as I will be working with a team on the Environmental Strategy for the company in the future.
My team are so supportive and tight-knit, and I have faced no barriers in my progression. This support has really helped me, and my advice to anyone starting out is to take the opportunities as they come up and go for it, as you’d be surprised what you can achieve!
